Surf on the south shore today was about chest high with the best conditions we’ve seen all week. The sun was out and wind was not a factor. Still a bit bumpy in some places but overall a good day.

Brennecke’s/Poipu Kauai 5-9-2011

Less rain and more sun is the play of the day today on the south shore of Kauai. The swell is a little smaller today with waves about waist high. Tried to make a road trip to the north but the road was washed out to Hanalei because of the rain.

Anchored up in Poipu at Brennecke’s with a lot of people out and surf school in.

Kauai South Shore

Still raining and windy on the south shore of Kauai this morning. There is still a small swell in the water and if conditions improve later in the morning, it could make for a fun day.

Just want to say Happy Mother’s day and thanks to all of the moms who took us to the beach when we were kids.

We will be out around the island today looking for great surf photos, hope to see you in the line up.

The word on the south shore today is rain and wind. Still some swell in the water but conditions are poor. Nobody out for the most part.

Still windy on the south shore of Kauai. The internet was down for a while today but appears to be back up for now. There is some south swell in the water running about chest high +. Look for some spots protected from the wind.

Having some technical difficulty with our smug mug today so we are posting our photos manually. Sorry about the delay and changes.

On the island of Kauai and the word of the day is wind! Small swell in the water on the south shore and bigger on the north and east. We will be out shooting some photos and will have them posted as soon as possible.

Just want to say for the world to hear that Get Some Surf is boycotting US Airways. If you are traveling with boards, find another way. These fools charged $200.00 USD for our boards one-way.

Surfing Puerto Vallarta

Surfing in the Puerto Vallarta area during the spring and summer is limited to the south facing Punta De Mita. Located in Nayarit and Nuevo Vallarta, there are several great places to stay and surf. If you are traveling with the family that has some non-surfers then this could be a great compromise . With many resorts in the area to choose from, you could have surf in front of your room and plenty of activities for the non-surfers in the group. Check the surf spot page for a map of the spots in the area.

Surfing Kauai South Shore

Our last trip to Kauai was a little to early to see any real big swell come into the south shore and a little to late for the north. We had been invited to a wedding so we didn’t have much of a choice. We did manage to get a day or so of head high waves and most of the trip was about chest high.

There was a definite difference in the vibe on the south shore vs the north on Kauai. Most likely to do with the amount of tourists that frequent the Poipu area. I met several people in the water and a few locals, who were actually vacationing from another island and never had any problems. I am sure you have heard the stories about how protective the locals can be.

We found a great condo just across the street from PK’s for around $200 a night. Great location with easy access in and out of the area for easy road trips.
